A Gentle Easter Guide for Families
Walking Through Holy Week with Children
Holy Week invites us to slow down.
In the midst of spring’s budding beauty and the joyful anticipation of Easter morning, families are given the opportunity to pause and remember the greatest story ever told—the story of Christ’s love poured out for us, His sacrifice on the cross, and the glorious hope of the resurrection.
For many parents, the desire to celebrate Easter meaningfully with children is strong, yet it can feel difficult to know where to begin. How do we share the Easter story in a way that is gentle, Christ-centered, and appropriate for young hearts?
That question is what inspired the creation of the Easter Book Flood.

A Gentle Easter Guide for Families
The Easter Book Flood is a five-day, Christ-centered Easter guide designed to help families walk slowly and intentionally through Holy Week with their children.
Rather than rushing from one activity to the next, this guide offers a peaceful daily rhythm that includes:
* Scripture and meaningful Easter stories
* Art, music, and poetry connected to the Easter season
* Hands-on activities and practical life skills
* Gentle early learning woven naturally into faith formation
* Time outdoors, noticing God’s creation and new life
Each day invites children to engage with the Easter story through reading, listening, creating, and conversation- allowing faith to be nurtured in natural, unhurried ways.

Christ-Centered Learning During the Easter Season
At the heart of the Easter Book Flood is a desire to keep Christ at the center of our Easter celebrations. The guide walks families through the events of Holy Week- from the sorrow of the cross, through the quiet waiting of the tomb, and into the joy of Resurrection Sunday.
The activities are intentionally simple and flexible. Families are not expected to complete every activity or read every book. Instead, parents are encouraged to choose what fits their season, their children’s ages, and their energy level.
This gentle approach allows learning and faith formation to happen side by side, without pressure.
Why Stories Matter at Easter
Stories are powerful teachers, especially for children.
Through carefully chosen Easter picture books and read-alouds, children are given language and imagery that help them understand deep truths about love, sacrifice, hope, and resurrection. Sitting together to read during Holy Week becomes a meaningful family rhythm, one that invites questions, conversation, and wonder.
The Easter Book Flood uses living books as a foundation, creating space for connection and shared reflection during the Easter season.

An Invitation to Linger in the Easter Story
Our hope for this Easter guide is simple: that families would feel invited to slow down and linger.
To sit with the sorrow of Good Friday.
To wait in the quiet of Holy Saturday.
And to rejoice fully in the light of Resurrection Sunday.
As families read Scripture together, bake, plant, sing, create, and reflect, they are planting seeds of faith that the Holy Spirit will faithfully tend. These small, intentional moments shape hearts in lasting ways.
Through Christ’s death and resurrection, we have hope—hope that suffering is not the end, hope that love is stronger than death, and hope that Jesus is making all things new.
“He is not here; He has risen!” — Luke 24:6
