Easter Activities for Kids: Faith-Filled Ideas for Christian Families

Over 32 years of parenting, I've found that celebrating holidays with my children sparks so much joy and creates happy memories for them to look back on.

I vividly remember hunting for chocolate egg by our creek, dying hard boiled eggs with our homeschool co-op, and enjoying church plays as a family.

Even the stories we read aloud contribute to our hope in the resurrection, and the joy we experience as we follow Jesus.

If you want to nurture your child's faith, try these Easter activities for kids.

Read favorite Easter books

Some of our favorite Easter picture books are
The Garden, the Curtain, and the Cross, The Easter Story, and Twas the Morning of Easter.

These beautifully illustrated stories explains the gospel in a way young children can understand.

You can also find read-aloud versions on YouTube, which makes a wonderful quiet-time activity during Holy Week.

Make Cross Crafts

Hands-on crafts help children connect with the meaning of Easter.

Simple craft idea:

  • Cut out cross shapes from cardstock.
  • Let children decorate them with markers or crayons.
  • Use them to create a small Easter display.

Paint a Resurrection Scene

This easy art activity is perfect for early learners. 🎨

Steps:

  • Watercolor paint a blue sky and green hill.
  • Let the painting dry.
  • Glue card stock crosses onto the hill.

This simple project creates a visual reminder of Good Friday and the resurrection story.

Make a Passover Lamb Craft

The Passover lamb is a powerful symbol that points to Jesus.

Try this activity:

  • Cut out a lamb shape from the Passover Guide
  • Wrap yarn around the lamb
  • Or glue on cotton balls to make it fluffy

Children love this craft, and it creates a natural opportunity to talk about Jesus as the Lamb of God.

Dye Eggs and Go on an Egg Hunt

  • Dyeing eggs together
  • Hiding eggs in the yard
  • Filling eggs with small treats or Bible verses

These simple traditions celebrate new life, and are part of many family Easter traditions.

Read the Gospel Stories Together

One of the most meaningful Easter traditions is simply reading the gospel accounts with your children.

Our Good Gospel resource was created specifically to help families do this.
