FAQ – The Precious People Year One

What ages is this unit designed for?

This unit is ideal for early elementary-aged students (roughly ages 5–10), with printable student sheets available in Kinder, Print, Cursive, and Elementary formats. This can be used with older elementary and middle school students by adding books from the included extended list.

How long does the unit last?

This is a 30 week study designed to give your family an overview of world geography through literature, hands-on projects, art, poetry, recipes, nature study, and cross-subject connections.

Do I need to buy the books separately?

Yes. The monthly book (and other suggested books) is not included in the download, but it is essential to the study. You can purchase or borrow from your local library. Most of the supplemental picture books are available as Youtube read alouds and many of the chapter books are also available as Youtube read alouds.

Is this a stand-alone curriculum?

Yes—with one exception. You’ll need to supplement with your own math and phonics curriculum. We include some phonics review, and daily copywork, narration, or notebooking.

Is this a digital or physical product?

It’s a digital download—you’ll receive printable PDFs that you can use at your convenience. Print what you need, when you need it.

Is this unit faith-based?

Yes. The parent guide includes Bible readings and faith-focused reflection activities woven into the weekly lessons. Secular families can easily skip that section of the resource.

The Precious People

We love this curriculum! It has taken us some time and money to gather the suggested books, but they’ve not disappointed.
Not all have been available at the library for us. Great routine, wording and activities for our 6 year old.

Precious People Year One World Geography

We have been thoroughly enjoying Precious People this year! I'm using it with my fourth grader. So far, my daughter's favorites are the lemonade stand we did to help her earn her first dollar and the Heidi book. This is our fourth year using Peaceful Press curriculum, and we love it so much! It's literally perfect!

Can’t get enough!

This is our second year with The Peaceful Press and we absolutely love it! Last year we did Nourishing Nature Kindergarten and this year we started the Precious People. I never thought my child would be asking for more when talking about schooling lessons. I love the structure and flexibility of it, and it’s a relief that it’s not overwhelming for my child or myself. We recommend to anyone we know who’s looking for curriculum.

A precious curriculum

Using The Precious People with my kids has been such a joy. It’s been a wonderful and engaging introduction to the world — full of great books, meaningful conversations, and gentle learning moments.
What I love most is how calm and natural the approach feels. There’s no rush, no pressure — just an invitation to explore and enjoy learning together. The literature choices are beautiful and thoughtfully selected, sparking curiosity and helping my kids see the world through different perspectives.
Some of our favorite reads so far have been The Boxcar Children, which completely captured their imaginations, and The Boy Who Biked the World, which we’re currently enjoying together. Both stories have opened the door to so many fun discussions and a deeper appreciation for adventure and perseverance.
Each week feels like a little adventure of its own. We’ve traveled through stories, learned about people and places, and grown in appreciation for the world around us. It’s the kind of curriculum that nourishes both the mind and heart — simple, rich, and full of connection.
For our family, The Precious People has been more than just a curriculum; it’s become a treasured part of our homeschool rhythm

Love precious people!

Really excited to start this with my three after Christmas. It looks really beautiful. The only thing I would say is, it would be wonderful if the art prints were full page print as they look lovely.

This is our 5th year doing peaceful press curriculum and are enjoying the new precious people! I especially like how we visit a new continent each month. It feels like the year flows smoothly and has been fun to watch my kids grow in their abilities to study and learn about different cultures even in two months! We have only done the first two months but so far the two main chapter read alouds left us wanting more depth. If I do this year again, I would choose heftier books to read through the month. I also think it would make much more sense to include the actual recipes within the curriculum instead of mentioning the recipe but having it in a separate PDF that you need to buy. Otherwise, we’ve enjoyed everything else!
