Things That We Do in Our Homeschool

There are many things that we choose not to do in our homeschool. Then there are things that we choose to do as intentional and important parts of our day and time for our families.

Things we do in our homeschool:

🌱 Keep a Daily Rhythm-

rather than a stringent schedule we have a flow for our days to help us know what's next without a rigid time schedule.

🌱 Keep Lessons Short- keeping lessons short helps with attention span and anticipation for what's to come.

🌱 Spend Time in Nature- nature is a classroom all on it's own with so much to learn and discover. Sunshine, dirt under our nails, and grass between our toes has many health benefits as well.

🌱 Hold off on Formal Lessons Until Age Six- Charlotte Mason recommends using the quiet growing time through age six to hold off on formal lessons and instead focus on play, reading aloud, & time in nature.

🌱 Choose Connection Over Curriculum- choose relationship with your children over checking off the boxes of your curriculum.

🌱 Choose Review & Narration Over Traditional Testing- testing can have it's place but with narration and review children can recall what they have learned often better than memorizing facts to pass an exam thus giving us a better idea of what they have retained.

🌱 Learn On Our Own Schedule- we make our own school schedule depending on our family's needs, vacations, and unexpected time off rather than adhering to the local school schedule.

What are things that you do that are important to you and your family in your homeschool?
