Homemade Playdough

Homemade Playdough

Play-dough is one of the key elements of our preschool at home. We use it often to make counting shapes, letters, and other fine motor activities. Making our own play-dough is not only cost-effective and natural, but adding essential oils makes it unique.

INGREDIENTS

1 c. flour
1c. salt
1/2 c. cornstarch
2t. cream of tartar
1 T cooking oil
1 c. water,
several drops of essential oil
(lavender is great for its calming effect)

INSTRUCTIONS

Mix all ingredients in a heavy saucepan and stir vigorously over medium-low heat until it forms a ball. When cooled to the touch, give your child a ball to shape, or separate it into four balls and stir a different color or essential oil into each ball. Store in an airtight jar. Keeps indefinitely.

Our award-winning Peaceful Preschool curriculum includes 26 weeks of fun crafts, phonics, counting, and more!
