Planning a Peaceful Christmas School

Creating a Peaceful Christmas with Your Children

Connection through curriculum is just as real during Christmastide as throughout the rest of the year. At The Peaceful Press, we have years of experience watching families thrive when they enter this season with a clear vision of what they want their children to remember.

Instead of being over scheduled and overstimulated, imagine your children remembering cocoa by the fire with a great story, building snowmen together, baking cookies, and that beautiful sense that “all is calm, all is bright.”

Christmas Learning the Peaceful Way

To help families create these kinds of moments, we’ve created two Christmas Guides designed for four weeks of simple, joyful learning.

Each guide includes:

  • Classic Christmas stories and read-alouds
  • Meaningful crafts and hands-on projects
  • Gentle phonics and numeracy practice
  • Recipes, poetry, music, and more

Whether you’re homeschooling through the holidays or just want to add depth and peace to the season, these guides are a wonderful way to slow down and focus on what matters most: connection and delight.

Featured Christmas Craft: DIY Snow Globe

One of our favorite projects from the Christmas Guides is making a snow globe in a mason jar. This simple activity brings wonder to little ones and adds homemade charm to your holiday décor.

You’ll need:

  • A small mason jar
  • Glitter (silver or white works beautifully)
  • A small Christmas figurine or object
  • Strong glue

Instructions:

  1. Glue your figurine to the inside of the jar lid. Let it dry completely.
  2. Fill the jar with water and add a sprinkle of glitter.
  3. Screw on the lid tightly.
  4. Shake gently and watch the snow fall!

This project is not only fun but also a memory-making moment your children will treasure.

Featured Christmas Recipe: Spiced Cider

Another way to bring peace and coziness into your holiday is through simple recipes. Our guides include child-friendly treats like homemade spiced cider.

Ingredients:

1 jug apple cider

4–5 whole cloves

2–3 cinnamon sticks

1–2 orange slices

Directions:

  1. Pour apple juice into a pot.
  2. Add the cloves, cinnamon, and orange slices.
  3. Simmer on low for 20–30 minutes.
  4. Serve warm in mugs and enjoy together.

The aroma fills your home with cheer, and the process is simple enough for children to help with.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Do I need to set aside my regular homeschool curriculum to use these Christmas guides?

Not at all. Many families enjoy pausing their usual lessons for a slower December, but the guides also work beautifully alongside your current rhythm. They’re designed to be flexible and gentle.

2. Which Christmas guide should I choose for my children?

  • Christmas Guide Volume 1 – Best for ages 3–5, with activities similar to The Peaceful Preschool.
  • Christmas Guide Volume 2 – Great for kindergarten through early elementary, with slightly more advanced phonics and counting.
  • Holiday Book Flood – Perfect for all ages, centered on daily picture-book activities.
  • Unearthing Wonder – A family Advent guide suitable for all ages.

3. How long do the daily activities take?

Most families complete a day’s activities in 30–60 minutes, but you can easily shorten or extend them depending on your season and energy.

4. Do I need special supplies?

Only a few simple craft items and basic ingredients for baking. Most supplies are things you already have at home, and we keep the lists minimal to make December peaceful.

5. Are these guides faith-based?

Unearthing Wonder is a Christian Advent resource.

The Christmas Guides and Holiday Book Flood are family-centered and festive, with an emphasis on beauty, connection, and meaningful holiday traditions.

6. Can I use the guides with multiple ages?

Yes! The activities are designed to be enjoyed together. Older children can help younger siblings, and younger ones can participate at their own level.

7. What if we start late in the month?

No problem. The guides are not date-specific—you can use them at your own pace, skip around, or spread them out into the New Year.

8. Will these guides add more stress to an already busy season?

The heart behind every Peaceful Press resource is simplicity. The activities are open-and-go, meaningful, and easy to adapt. Most families find that they bring more calm, connection, and joy—not more pressure.

9. Where can I find the books mentioned in the guides?

Most titles are available through your library, local bookshop, or via our Amazon affiliate links included in the post. You can also view the entire Christmas book list directly from our website.
