Plan for Holiday School
Dreaming of Holiday School?
As the days grow shorter and winter draws near, many homeschool families start to dream of a slower, cozier rhythm—a season of twinkle lights, warm cookies, and stories by the fire. Christmas homeschooling can be one of the sweetest times of the year, a chance to pause the usual routine and lean into memory-making with your children.
At The Peaceful Press, we’ve created several Christmas homeschool guides to help you cultivate joy, peace, and togetherness during the holiday season. Whether you’re a Charlotte Mason homeschooler, love hands-on holiday projects, or simply want to fill your December days with meaningful connection, these resources are here to guide you.

A day in one of our Christmas homeschool guides might include:
- 📖 Reading a beloved story like Christmas Day in the Morning or The Night Before Christmas
- 🍪 Baking cookies to share with neighbors and friends
- ❄️ Having a playful pretend snowball fight indoors
- 🎭 Crafting simple holiday projects such as a Santa mask or paper stars
- 🎨 Painting a nativity scene to display throughout Advent
- 🎶 Singing Christmas carols together as a family

Christmas Guide Volume 1 is our original fun-filled guide. It has a similar format to The Peaceful Preschool and Nourishing Nature Kindergarten, with daily suggestions for read aloud, phonics, counting, motor skills and more. We include recipes, crafts, and prompts for fun large motor activities. It's perfect for 3-5 year old students but even older elementary children will want to join in the fun.
Christmas Guide Volume 2 is the follow up to our original and includes all new phonics and counting activities, stories, recipes, art, and poetry. The phonics and math are a little more advanced than those that are included in Volume 1 which makes it perfect for kindergarten and early elementary students. It's also organized to accompany our history cycles with a week of Nature Christmas, Pioneer Christmas, European Christmas, and World Christmas.
Holiday Book Flood includes 25 daily picture book based activities for fun Christmas memory making. It's a perfect all ages guide to make the holidays bright and merry.

In Unearthing Wonder, our family guide to advent, we include 25 days of lessons to accompany the book All Creation Waits. Each day includes thoughtful readings, and family centered activities. It would make a lovely morning time guide or evening devotion resource.

Each guide is filled with holiday homeschool activities designed to help you create happy memories, cultivate connection, and keep the focus on what matters most this season. With a mix of read-alouds, crafts, recipes, and projects, your homeschool December can be both simple and magical.
If you’ve been wondering how to bring beauty and meaning into your Christmas homeschooling, our Peaceful Press holiday guides are the perfect place to begin.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. Do I have to pause my regular homeschool curriculum to use these Christmas guides?
Not necessarily. Many families enjoy setting aside their usual curriculum for a lighter, more festive December, while others weave the activities into their current rhythm. The guides are flexible enough to use either way.
2. Which Christmas guide is best for my child’s age?
- Christmas Guide Volume 1 is ideal for ages 3–5, but older siblings often enjoy participating.
- Christmas Guide Volume 2 works beautifully for kindergarten and early elementary, with slightly more advanced phonics and math.
- Holiday Book Flood is truly all ages, perfect for families who want simple, book-based Christmas fun.
- Unearthing Wonder is designed for the whole family, with gentle Advent reflections and shared activities.
3. Can I use more than one guide at the same time?
Yes! Many families pair a core guide (like Volume 1 or 2) with Holiday Book Flood for extra picture-book fun or add Unearthing Wonder for daily Advent reflection. Use what fits your energy and season—these guides are meant to simplify, not overwhelm.
4. How much time do the daily lessons take?
Most activities can be enjoyed in 30–60 minutes, depending on how many you choose to complete. You can do just one activity per day or lean into a full morning of holiday learning. Everything is intentionally designed to be simple and meaningful.
5. Are the crafts and recipes easy to prepare?
Yes. Each guide includes projects that use common household items or simple craft supplies. Recipes are family-friendly, and most crafts are easy enough for young children to participate in with minimal prep.
6. Do I need to buy a lot of extra materials?
Not usually. We keep supply lists minimal, and most families already have the basics at home. If a project does require a specialty item, it’s typically inexpensive and easy to find.
7. Can these guides be used by families who aren’t Charlotte Mason homeschoolers?
Absolutely. While many Peaceful Press families love Charlotte Mason methods, the guides work well for any homeschool style—traditional, eclectic, unschooling, or somewhere in between. The focus is connection, creativity, and delight.
8. Are these guides religious or secular?
The Christmas Guides (Volume 1, Volume 2, and Holiday Book Flood) are primarily festive, family-centered, and gentle in tone.
Unearthing Wonder is specifically a Christian Advent guide designed to accompany All Creation Waits. Families who desire faith-based Christmas lessons especially love this resource.
9. Can I use these guides with multiple children?
Yes! All the guides are family-friendly and easy to adapt for multi-age homeschooling. Older children can assist younger siblings, and activities can be scaled up or simplified.
10. What if we start late in December?
No worries at all. The guides are not tied to specific dates. You can pick and choose your favorite activities, spread them out over several weeks, or even continue them into the New Year.
11. Will the guides be too overwhelming during an already busy season?
The goal of every Peaceful Press holiday resource is simplicity and connection. Activities are optional, open-and-go, and designed to make your December lighter—not heavier. Most families find that they reduce stress by giving structure and meaning to the season.
12. Where can I find the books mentioned in the guides?
Many of the books can be found at your library, local bookshop, or through our Amazon affiliate links. You can also view the full Peaceful Press Christmas Book List directly from the blog post.
