Here are a few simple activities to mark this special feast day.
1. Light a Candle
Say simply:
“Today we remember Epiphany—the day we celebrate how God showed Jesus to the world.”
2. Read a Story
You can read the full text of Matthew 2, or choose one of the picture books listed here.
The Story of the Three Wise Kings by Tomie de Paola
We Three Kings by Gennady Spirin
They Followed a Bright Star by Joan Alavedra
The Third Gift by Linda Sue Park
3. Sing Christmas Carols (with Youtube links)
Singing together is always a good idea, and this could be a perfect morning time opener.
4. Make a Crown
This simple craft can be enjoyed by the whole family with older children making more elaborate cuts, and younger children simply adding on gems or other stickers.
Supplies:
- Paper strips (construction paper or cardstock)
- Crayons or markers
- Stickers or gems
- Tape or staples
Instructions:
- Help children decorate a paper strip.
- Add simple shapes or “jewels.”
- Tape or staple into a crown shape.
As they work, talk gently about honoring Jesus as King.
You might say:
“The wise men brought gifts to honor Jesus. We can honor Him with love and kindness too.”
5. Prepare a Treat
No feast is complete without a treat, and there are so many fun options for Epiphany. You can find the Olive Oil Orange Cake recipe in the Peaceful Press cookbook as part of Kind KIngdom Volume 2.

Before eating, say a short prayer:

Love this Epiphany lesson for children. We are making this olive oil orange cake this year. I also ordered two of the recommended books to read.
Two things we do to celebrate Epiphany are opening our stockings and giving our gifts to Jesus in his stocking. Our gifts to Jesus are not materialistic but rather something like time, commitment to daily time in his word or three acts of service a month. Something like that. We write it on a piece of paper and place in Jesus’ stocking and review the previous years’ gift.
