I must admit, I am not the craftiest of mamas. I would far rather paint with my children, than come up with elaborate crafts involving the mess of glue and glitter.
However, crafts are a fun way for your child to develop their fine motor skills. All that cutting, and gluing, and getting their hands covered in glitter glue, is providing helpful sensory input while creating the opportunity to build the hand strength necessary for writing.
In The Peaceful Preschool curriculum, we have a happy balance of crafts, we hope just the right amount, and this sweet bunny mask that goes along with the story, "The Runaway Bunny" from Unit B, is a great example of the easy and fun crafts you can expect from the curriculum.
Bunny Mask
SUPPLIES
Circle paper plate
Bunny ear template
Pink tissue paper
Large craft stick
Glue
Scissors
Pen
INSTRUCTIONS

Help your child draw a bunny face on the paper plate. Cut holes for eyes. (If desired add googly eyes above the eye holes and use pipe cleaners for whiskers)

Give your child small squares of pink tissue paper to crumple and glue to the inside of the bunny ears.

Cut out bunny ears

Glue to paper plate face.

Glue or tape on a craft stick for a handle.
After the mask is finished drying, cuddle up with your child to read So Many Bunnies, a cute A-Z bunny book, or the story of the Runaway Bunny and reassure them of the lengths you would go to reach them, because few forces are as powerful as a mother's love. Our intense love models the love of God.
