Frequently Asked Questions

1. Who is this 5-day Advent plan designed for?

This simple Advent plan is perfect for families who want a gentle, meaningful way to celebrate Advent without committing to a full 25-day schedule. It’s ideal for families who finished Unearthing Wonder early or those who prefer a slower, more flexible rhythm during a busy season.

2. Can we do this plan even if Advent is already over?

Yes! This plan is intentionally designed to be used before or after Christmas. It works beautifully in the days leading up to Christmas, the week between Christmas and New Year’s, or even in early January as you continue savoring the season.

3. How long does each day’s reading and activity take?

Most families can complete each day in 20–40 minutes, depending on how long you linger over crafts, music, or discussion. It’s meant to feel peaceful, not pressured.

4. Do I need to buy all of the books listed?

No. Each day includes a read-aloud option with a YouTube link, so you can listen for free if you don’t have the book. If you own the titles, wonderful—if not, the plan still works effortlessly.

5. Are the crafts complicated or messy?

The activities were intentionally chosen to be simple, hands-on, and low-stress. You’ll find easy options like rolling beeswax candles, making clay candle holders, creating a pinecone birdfeeder, or baking sugar cookies. All are family-friendly and achievable with minimal prep.

6. What supplies do I need?

Most materials are basic household or easily accessible items:

  • Beeswax sheets (optional)
  • Modeling clay (air dry works great)
  • Pinecones, peanut butter, and birdseed
  • Simple baking ingredients for cookies
Everything else involves listening, reading, singing, or enjoying art.

7. Is this plan appropriate for multiple ages?

Absolutely. Children of all ages—from toddlers to teens—can participate. Younger children will enjoy the stories and hands-on activities, while older children can help read scripture, make crafts, or lead songs.

8. Can we spread the five days out longer?

Yes! Feel free to stretch it over one week, use one day per weekend, or sprinkle it throughout the Christmas season. The plan is flexible so your family can fit it into your natural rhythm.

9. How does this fit with Unearthing Wonder?

If you completed Unearthing Wonder early, this 5-day plan offers a beautiful extension—adding deeper reflection, familiar stories, and restful practices. It also works perfectly as a gentle alternative for families who want something lighter this year.

10. Is there a religious focus to the plan?

Yes. Each day includes a scripture reading along with music, stories, and art that highlight the birth of Christ. It’s crafted to nurture faith and invite families into the sacred beauty of the season.
