I just arrived home from a weekend at Teach Them Diligently and it was a joy to meet so many new friends and to talk about literature based homeschooling. I also loved taking a stroll through the exhibit hall and coming back home to the Peaceful Press booth with a sense of satisfaction that we really do have the most beautiful, affordable, and family centered resources available.
When you use our resources you avoid busy work, you bond with your children over great books, and you experience the joy of creating together.
Makoto Fujimura, the author of Art and Faith, a Theology of Making says, “Unless we are making, we are not really exercising our humanity into the world."
As your children read a story with you, and then write, draw, bake, or create a handcraft based on what they read, they are learning to exercise humanity, to make the world a more beautiful place instead of merely consuming information and regurgitating an expected answer. It's teaching them to be thinkers, makers, innovators, and creators, made in the image of God. It's revolutionary, and it takes courage, but you are developing it as you learn with your children.

My course The Peaceful Path to a Living Education is another great resource for helping you develop courage as a homeschool mom. Click here to learn more.
If you don't know where to start with giving your elementary students a literature based education, we recommend using The Playful Pioneers first. It's a beautiful introduction to American History and includes art, poetry, literature suggestions, recipes, student copy work, science, and history. You just need to add math and phonics for grades 1-3, and math and grammar or writing for grades 4-8.
