As we near the end of the homeschool year (we've got just five weeks left!), there’s something so refreshing about clearing out the old and making space for a new season—mentally, emotionally, and physically.
I always love the sense of closure that comes with wrapping up our lessons and shifting into slower summer rhythms. Before diving into a simple summer morning time and days at the river, I want to reflect and reset so I can plan the next year with insight.
🌿 My Gentle Year-End Checklist
- Ask your children what they loved most—and what they didn't.
- Reflect together on what they learned (use our free End-of-Year Exam download for inspiration)
- Snap photos of their favorite work for your records and save in a folder labeled with your child's name and grade.
- Record grades or progress and file 2–5 work samples per subject. This could also be scanned and added to a cloud based folder.
- Clean out school baskets, pencil boxes, and bookshelves to make space for new school supplies.
- Return any straggling library books.Plan a celebration—a backyard picnic or a big family trip, whatever brings joy.
💬 Next, take time to ask yourself:
- Did our homeschool year feel joyful?
- Did it nurture curiosity?
- Did my children come alive with learning?
If not—you’re not alone, and it doesn’t have to stay that way!
